Hello everyone and welcome to this wonderful community. A little bit about me. I am a mature woman (ajumma) of color (melanin) who loves Korean Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Dramas, Movies and Culture. I created this blog to explore what it means to be a mature fan and a Black American fan of Korean Entertainment.  

Often, I find that other blogs or platforms are filled with the perspectives of younger fans who share the same love of Korean entertainment and culture. Unfortunately, I also find those platforms sometimes lack a certain maturity. I am not about the fan wars, which group you should “stan” more than another, or “cancelling” someone based on superficial thinking or ideals. I talk about everything, from new comebacks, being a minority within fandoms, my perspective on Korean dramas, and how Korean public affairs can affect fans outside of Korea. I speak on topics from the perspective of someone who has lived a bit of life. 

I also discuss topics from the viewpoint of a Black American. I am sometimes baffled by what is put out there by the Korean entertainment industry. I have seen too many debates on social media over appropriation vs. appreciation. There is a fine line between the two and I think sometimes that line can be blurred. I hope that some of my takes on this topic can give some of you clarity and enlightenment to those not of the culture as well.  

Lastly, this blog is not always PG-13. I do not watch my language; no topic is off limits, and I am not afraid to push the conversation into the uncomfortable. Nothing crazy, but when I comment on public forums knowing that there are younger fans on some sites, I tend to censor what I say out of respect. But not here. 

This blog is always a work in progress. Not sure how often I will post, but all are welcomed. Just to be clear, this blog is FOR EVERYONE. Not just for people of color, or just women, but for all mature fans to be able to speak freely and openly about the stuff we love. 

I am not a professional writer and what I write about are my opinions, ideas, thoughts, and commentary. I try my best to give an open and fair view; however, it is from my perspective as a mature Black American woman. I do research facts as best as possible and add references to most of my post. I ask that you read with an open mind, and I welcome all comments for discussion. I just ask that you are respectful of everyone’s opinions. Debate is good, but respect is even better.
